Whilst some agencies fall behind, Orbital continues to maintain high compliance standards.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has announced that 193 recruitment agencies have been denied REC membership for failing to meet its compliance standards.

Not all of those who failed are new members, in fact there were 83 agencies who were denied a renewal for REC membership because they failed to pass a compliance test introduced in July 2012. REC members had until December 2014 to pass the test and prove adherence to the REC’s code of professional practise.

The REC represents 82 per cent of the UK’s £28.7 billion recruitment industry by revenue.

Compliance and ethics are at the heart of what we do

As full REC members we look forward to more opportunities to demonstrate how our working practises comply completely with industry standards and the REC code of conduct. Not to mention how we continue to strive for perfection in elements of our business.

Compliance Manager Sarah Chambers commented: “at Orbital we take compliance and ethics very seriously and operate under a code of professional practise that always adheres to industry legislation.  We are committed to upholding our high standards and demonstrating that compliance and ethics are at the heart of what we do”

REC chief executive Kevin Green has commented: “We have lost a few members because they couldn’t satisfy us that they met our high standards, but the upshot is that we now know all of our members are committed to being compliant and to upholding high standards.

This is great news for clients and candidates who can trust that REC membership means quality and compliance.”

Sound understanding of the REC Code

To pass the REC compliance test an agency must demonstrate ‘sound understanding of the REC Code of Professional Practice, knowledge of relevant industry legislation, and commit to high ethical standards.’ We are a passionate company who care about people and the way we conduct our business, this is just a reflection of our commitment to our clients.

REC members are now required to complete the compliance test every two years – we’re looking forward to taking the next test and demonstrating our exacting standards.
